OEMs

Indian and multinational truck manufacturers that produce or source truck parts and assemble complete trucks for sale. A few major players dominate the market share and have significant influence over market standards, policy-making, and regulations.

Truck Body Builders

In India, it is common for truck buyers to purchase trucks with partially built cabins and no-load bodies from OEMs. They then have the cabin and load body custombuilt by third-party suppliers. This practice has traditionally been an unorganized business with cash transactions, but efforts are underway to introduce codes of practice for bus and truck body building.

Truck Sub-system and Component Suppliers

While OEMs traditionally design, develop, and manufacture IC engines and gearboxes in-house, they source major sub-systems like suspension systems, steering systems, and brakes from local suppliers. The trend is also emerging in the e-Bus manufacturing sector, with local suppliers or imports providing epowertrain components such as motors, batteries, and power electronics.

Fuel Suppliers

Adequate and appropriate fuel supply is crucial for implementing emission norms for IC engine-powered vehicles. Therefore, fuel suppliers play a significant role in influencing policy-making concerning IC engine trucks.
